Job Responsibilities:
- Provides primary health care services within scope of practice to adults in accordance with approved privileges.
- Provides after-hours coverage for SSCHC patients.
- Works in partnership with an Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) and one or more other team members to care for a shared panel of patients on the medical team, which includes but is not limited to diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions.
- Emphasizes health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention.
- Includes patient in medical decision making.
- Orders, conducts and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests.
- Prescribes medication.
- Prepares and maintains medical patient reports and records.
- Abides by all SSCHC policies and procedures.
- Has the option to participate in the training of APP's, medical students and medical residents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a physician in the State of Wisconsin.
- Completion of Internal Medicine Residency from an accredited Internal Medical Program.
- Board certification or eligible for Board Certification in Internal Medicine.
- Licensed for prescriptive authority in the State of Wisconsin.
- Insurable for liability coverage as an Internist.
- Working knowledge of the social and cultural factors associated with the community's use of social and health care services.
- Ability to understand patient attitudes and needs, develop and orient program goals and concepts accordingly, and to work effectively toward their accomplishment with all staff members.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, other private and public organizational representative, health care personnel and community groups and organizations.
- Ability to work under pressure, maintains personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients and difficult situations.
- Ability to identify and maintain confidential material.
- Ability to interpret and conform program operations to applicable laws, rules, regulations and funding source requirements and according to acceptable standards.
- BLS certification maintained.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
